SAP MDG · DATA MODEL UI

How do I enhance the SAP MDG Change Request UIBB with a custom field such as Requesting Business Area?

Add the field outside the MDG business data model, persist it in a Z-table with the Change Request ID, expose it through a dependent GenIL object and Form UIBB, and wire the UIBB to the Change Request root so the value can be saved, read back, and optionally shown only for selected CR types.

Add the custom field outside the MDG business data model, persist it with the Change Request ID in `ZUSMD_CR_BUSAREA`, and surface it on the Change Request General Data tab via a dependent GenIL object and a Form UIBB. The source pattern uses `GSBER` for the Business Area value, reads the value help from `TGSB` / `TGSBT`, and keeps the field display-only when the Change Request is opened in display mode.

Process flow

  1. Define the additional process-control parameter.
  2. Keep it outside the MDG business data model if it is not part of the business context.
  3. Store it with the Change Request ID in `ZUSMD_CR_BUSAREA`.
  4. Create the DDIC structure `Z_CR_BUSINESS_AREA` / `ZCR_BUSINESS_AREA` and activate it.
  5. Create the GenIL root enhancement `ZCL_USMD_CR_GIL_ROOT_ENHANCED`.
  6. Create the dependent-object handler `ZCL_CR_GIL_REQ_BUS_AREA`.
  7. Create the feeder class `ZCL_USMD_CR_GUIBB_REQ_BUS_AREA`.
  8. Enhance GenIL component `CR` with `ZMDG_CR_ADDITIONAL_FIELDS`.","Create dependent object `ZCR_REQ_BUSINESS_AREA` with relation `ZCR_ReqBusAreaRel`.","Copy and configure the Form UIBB `ZUSMD_CR_REQ_BUS_AREA`.","Add the UIBB to the Change Run

ILLUSTRATIVE ABAP SAMPLE

Source pattern for the Business Area value set

The source guide shows the feeder-class value-help logic using `TGSB` and `TGSBT`.

1SELECT gsber gsber FROM tgsb INTO TABLE et_value_set. 2LOOP AT et_value_set ASSIGNING FIELD-SYMBOL(<value_set>). 3 SELECT SINGLE gtext FROM tgsbt INTO <value_set>-text 4 WHERE spras = sy-langu 5 AND gsber = <value_set>-value. 6ENDLOOP.
