Configure duplicate check in MDG from MDGIMG under General Settings > Data Quality and Search > Search and Duplicate Check, then define the search application, maintain the match profile and relevant fields, assign it to the entity type, and enable duplicate check for the relevant CR step.

SAP MDG duplicate check is configured in the MDG customizing area and then activated for the change-request step that creates the master data. The usual flow is to define the search application, maintain the match profile and relevant fields, assign the configuration to the entity type, and test the warning popup in NWBC.
