How do I use Enterprise Search in SAP Master Data Governance?
SAP MDG supports Enterprise Search for master data, especially for MDG-M on SAP HANA. In NetWeaver 7.5, the former Embedded Search is now called SAP Enterprise Search on HANA; for Enterprise Search incidents use BC-EIM-ESH, and for MDG-M search model/connectors use CA-MDG-APP-MM.

SAP MDG supports Enterprise Search to find master data and related objects, especially in MDG-M. In NetWeaver 7.5 the feature formerly known as Embedded Search was renamed SAP Enterprise Search on HANA. For incidents, use BC-EIM-ESH for Enterprise Search itself and CA-MDG-APP-MM for MDG-M search models and connectors.
Process flow
- 1. Decide whether the landscape needs Enterprise Search, SAP HANA-based search, or both.
- 2. For incidents, route Enterprise Search issues to BC-EIM-ESH and MDG-M search-model issues to CA-MDG-APP-MM.
- 3. In NetWeaver 7.5, treat Embedded Search as SAP Enterprise Search on HANA.
- 4. Use ESH_COCKPIT to administer connectors and ESH_MODELER to maintain the search model.
- 5. For MDG Material, verify the delivered MDG_MATERIAL connector and extend it in a customer-specific software component if needed.
- 6. Maintain UI technologies in ESH_COCKPIT under System Settings → Maintain UI Technologies.
- 7. Configure model requests, response attributes, and navigation targets for the search model.
- 8. Update modified connectors and test the result in ESH_TEST_SEARCH or ESH_SEARCH as applicable.
