How do I create a DQM rule in SAP MDG to check whether a product assigned to a class also has a required classification characteristic?
Create one dummy DQM rule on MARA_AUSP to populate MARA_AUSP_PRC, then create the real DQM rule on MARA_KSSK, scope it to class ZZMDG_BIKES, and use a BRF+ database lookup for ZZ_MDG_COLOR in MARA_AUSP_PRC.

Use this guide to create an MDG Data Quality Management rule that checks whether products assigned to a specific class also have a required classification characteristic assigned. The approach is configuration-only in the Web UI/BRF+ and applies to SAP Master Data Governance on SAP S/4HANA 2020 and higher. The example class is ZZMDG_BIKES and the example characteristic is ZZ_MDG_COLOR.
Process flow
- Create class `ZZMDG_BIKES` in `CL01`
- Create characteristic `ZZ_MDG_COLOR`
- Set characteristic type to `CHAR(10)`
- Select `Multiple Values`
- Do not select `Entry Required`
- Maintain values `BLUE`, `RED`, `BLACK`
- Create two test products in `MM01`
- Assign both products to `ZZMDG_BIKES` and give only one product `ZZ_MDG_COLOR` value','Open `Data Quality Rules - Products`','Create dummy rule on `MARA_AUSP`','Add usage `DQM`','Prepare dummy rule','Set dummy scope to `false eq false`','2x
