How to send non-work-item e-mail notifications from an SAP MDG governance process?
SAP MDG can send non-work-item e-mails during or after governance using one of three guide-supported options: a configuration-only sub-workflow, a BAdI-based system caller, or a copied workflow with a program exit and Send Mail step.
SAP MDG can send non-work-item e-mails during or after governance using one of three guide-supported options: a configuration-only sub-workflow, a BAdI-based system caller, or a copied workflow with a program exit and Send Mail step.
SAP MDG can send e-mail notifications during governance without relying on normal workflow work-item notifications. The guide supports three patterns: a configuration-only sub-workflow, a BAdI-based system caller using `USMD_SSW_SYSTEM_METHOD_CALLER`, and a copied workflow that sends mail after activation via a program exit.
Process flow
- Identify the workflow point where the e-mail should be sent.
- Choose one of the three guide-supported approaches: sub-workflow, BAdI System Caller Method, or new workflow.
- Configure the Change Request and workflow rules for the selected approach.
- Activate the workflow objects and decision tables.
- Process a Change Request through the approval or activation step.
- Check the outbound mail in `SOST`.
- Verify the e-mail reached the intended recipient.
Workflow Builder > create sub-workflow > add Send Mail step > add Workflow Container element `CHANGE_REQUEST` > add Event Creator > trigger `SUBWORKFLOW_PROCESSED`
Build the configuration-only sub-workflow for non-work-item e-mail notification.

Implement the workflow exit used by the copied-workflow approach.
