Why does Integrated Cost Element Maintenance in MDG-F change after conversion to SAP S/4HANA 1809 or higher, and what do I need to do?

After SAP S/4HANA 1809 or higher, MDG-F treats Integrated Cost Element Maintenance as part of the simplified G/L Account / Cost Element model. The backend conversion must be finished first, and then MDG-specific preparation is required: close open change requests, activate the prerequisite business functions, run and verify USMD_FIN_S4MIGRATION, and adjust replication and UI behavior.
Process flow
- Complete the required SAP S/4HANA backend conversion first.
- Close all open change requests for ACCOUNT, ACCCDET, and CELEM.
- Activate MDG_FOUNDATION_9.
- Verify migration prerequisites in SECC, T077S, and T030 with KTOSL = CO1.
- Use GL_ACCOUNT_MASTER_DERIVE if customer-specific derivation is required.
- Activate MDG_S4_FINANCIALS_8 and let USMD_FIN_S4MIGRATION finish successfully.
- Configure ECC Account filters to exclude Account type S for ECC targets.
- Adjust replication models and Cost Element search as needed for direct Cost Element replication .
